Andrew Falkowski works discursively, using a multiplicity of approaches and visual syntax. This approach is flexible. It suits the conceptual dialogues and intuitive inclinations used to embody an idea, project or collaboration. He does this through a variety of materials and processes.
In pursuit of some ineffable affect that develops through the act of painting, Falkowski’s work often jumps between different kinds of visual approaches. His work has taken the form of portrait, collage, text, abstraction and Tondo. This sensibility creates intersections and conceptual spirals that knit various types of work together in dialogue, producing new or alternative propositions. It provides him with an ever-expanding material and semiotic framework, rooted in a fundamental enthusiasm for making things.
Andrew Falkowski received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts, a MA from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and a BA from University of California at Santa Cruz. He currently is based in Chicago, Illinois.
